Biography

Russell Yankwitt is the managing partner of Yankwitt LLP, an elite trial and litigation law firm based in White Plains, New York, with one of the largest litigation teams in Westchester County. Mr. Yankwitt litigates and mediates commercial matters of all kinds, including contract and partnership disputes, employment and shareholder lawsuits, insurance coverage disputes, ADA litigations, and premises liability cases.  Strategic, creative, and aggressive, Mr. Yankwitt has accrued an enviable track record of trial victories over the past two decades. He represents clients in of all sizes, from Fortune 500 companies to smaller regional and local companies and high-net-worth individuals. He also handles complex matters throughout the New York metropolitan area on behalf of national law firms and serves as trial counsel for Westchester law firms on their high-stakes cases.

 

Mr. Yankwitt is not only a fierce client advocate before judge and jury, he also has earned a reputation as an exceptional negotiator at mediations and settlement meetings. He is able to identify the “right” time to push for settlement talks, and once seated at the table, employs a creative approach to settlement structures to bridge the gap between the parties.  Over the years, Mr. Yankwitt has successfully mediated hundreds of cases on behalf of his clients.

 

Prior to starting Yankwitt LLP, Mr. Yankwitt litigated complex commercial matters at premier New York City law firm, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP, and served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York.  After graduating cum laude with his J.D. from Cornell Law School, Mr. Yankwitt was a federal law clerk to Judge Thomas C. Platt in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

 

Mr. Yankwitt is active in the legal community as the founder and board member of the Federal Bar Council, Westchester Committee and serves on the board of the Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, among other organizations.
